Welcome

QED Consulting has developed and delivered a range of Entrepreneur Schools across the UK since 2001. The 2010 Bio-Entrepreneur School is based on the successful delivery of the first and second UK Bio-Entrepreneur School which took place at BioCity Nottingham in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and our Enviro-Entrepreneur School which has been running since 2004.

With core funding in place for our 2010 Bio-Entrepreneur School at BioCity Nottingham we are looking for sponsors to join us in this exciting programme.

Background

The Bio-Entrepreneur School is built around two main stages of delivery. These are the identification of people who are looking to commercialise their idea through an extensive and targeted marketing campaign and selection process (also know as ‘talent scouting’) and the delivery of a 3-day intensive programme designed to engage and enable delegates in starting as well as growing a business.

The Talent Scouting approach aims to spread the news about the Bio-Entrepreneur School as widely as possible with a view to attracting a minimum of 2000 visitors to the Bio-Entrepreneur School website. Based on past experience this should result in approximately 200 registrations of interest and 75 applications, from which we will select 30 delegates with the highest potential for starting and growing a business in the healthcare, bioscience and biotechnology sector. For 2010 we will also be looking to recruit an additional 10 people from industry and established small businesses to help them prepare for more enterprise and entrepreneurial activity.

Delegate Profile

Based on delegates who attended the 2007 - 2009 Bio-Entrepreneur School we anticipate over 70% of delegates to have a PhD with the majority having a working prototype of their idea in place.

Disciplines represented in our 2008 and 2009 Bio-Entrepreneur Schools included: Biochemisty and Genetics, Biological Chemistry, Biomedical science (Neurology), Biomedicine, Bionanotechnology, Biophysics, Cancer Immunology, Clinical neurology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Homotoxicology & Bioregulatory Medicine, Management Sciences, Marine Biology, Materials engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine, Orthopaedic science, Orthoptics, Pharmacy, and Zoology.
